Deviate formed in late 1994, and only had one line-up change in th 5 years that we were together, in September 1995 Barry was replaced by Raino.

Our music was best described as a cross between death metal and grind core but gratefully to us it remains unlabelled. The line-up was Raino - vocals, Richard - guitar, Tony - bass and Andrew - drums.

We have been on a number of international tape, vinyl and CD compilations (see here for more details) All in all the band has recorded 3 demo’s and the plan to release a full length album unfortunately never happened.

The way we played was fast and aggressive, it is a way of expressing our emotions, and while playing letting off anger and frustration, but most importantly straying from orthodox musical styles. The songs we wrote were not happy because we were angry, all those love songs say the world is filled with love - except everybody ignores the starvation, war and poverty ?

Our lyrics expressed the anger that we felt about what is going on this world. Our lyrics are serious, critical and express our opinions on topics we strongly oppose from animal exploitation, visection, ignorance, apathy, racism, and importantly divorce from organised religion.

Perhaps the most important message from Deviate was individuality. To be an individual and not to conform within the boundaries of society. To deviate from these norms is a way to truly be free !!!!!
